Little Abhi, the baby monkey, was having a playful morning in the backyard, his tail swinging and eyes full of joy. His human family had just let him out for some sunshine, and he was chasing butterflies, hopping from one rock to another like a champion explorer.
But suddenly, a neighbor’s young puppy, full of energy and curiosity, slipped through the gate.
The puppy barked playfully and ran toward Abhi, tail wagging. At first, Abhi froze, unsure of what to make of the furry creature. But when the puppy got too close and tried to nip at him in excitement—Abhi panicked.
He screamed out, a sharp, heart-piercing sound, and ran in circles, trying to escape. The puppy didn’t mean harm, but his playful “bite” had scratched Abhi’s tiny arm, and to the baby monkey, it felt like the world was ending.
Abhi dropped to the ground, holding his little arm, and began crying hard, tears mixing with dust. His face scrunched up in pain and fear as he let out moans that pulled at the heart.
His human mom rushed over, scooping him up gently. “Oh baby, I’m here,” she whispered, checking the wound.
It wasn’t serious—just a tiny mark—but to Abhi, it was everything.
She cleaned the spot carefully, blew softly on it, and rocked him in her arms. He clung to her shirt with trembling fingers, still whimpering, peeking over her shoulder to make sure the puppy was gone.
Minutes later, wrapped in a soft towel with a drop of honey on his lip, Abhi finally calmed down. His eyes blinked slowly, body relaxed.
Safe again.
