Little Qunn sat quietly on the soft mat in the corner of the house. At first, it seemed like she was just playing with her toes, but then came the soft sniffles… followed by a loud wail.
Mom was nearby, folding laundry and talking with the other monkeys. She didn’t realize that Qunn had been waiting for her—needing her—for a while now.
“Eeeh! Eeeh!!” Qunn cried louder, scooting to the center of the room. She slammed her little hands on the floor and let her head drop forward, her soft hair covering her teary eyes. Her tiny shoulders shook with each cry, hoping Mom would finally look.
But when Mom didn’t come right away, Qunn threw a full tantrum—rolling on the floor, feet kicking, mouth wide open in a heartbreaking scream.
Everyone turned to look. Even the older monkeys paused their play. “What happened to Qunn?” one whispered.
Finally, Mom noticed.
“Oh no, baby!” she rushed over and scooped Qunn into her arms.
Qunn clung tightly to her, burying her face in Mom’s chest as the crying slowly turned into sniffles.
“You just missed Mommy, huh?” Mom whispered gently. “You don’t need to scream, little love. I’m always here.”
Qunn’s tiny fingers curled into Mom’s shirt, and a small, tired sigh escaped her lips.
She wasn’t hungry. She wasn’t sick. She just wanted one thing—a moment of love, a warm cuddle, and the feeling that she mattered most.
Mom kissed her head, held her close, and swayed softly side to side.
