In the quiet warmth of the morning, Mama Lura sat gently cradling her newborn baby monkey. The tiny infant, still fragile and pink-faced, clung tightly to her chest, eyes shut but sensing every movement of his mama.
He had just finished his milk, tummy full and body relaxed—but one thing he wasn’t ready for… was distance.
Mama Lura needed to stand up and stretch, maybe grab some food. But the moment she slowly shifted to move away, the newborn’s tiny arms tightened. Then came a sudden sound that echoed through the nursery:
A high-pitched, heart-wrenching scream.
The baby monkey’s eyes flew open, his face scrunched in panic, and his little fists waved in the air. “EEEEE! EEEE!” he cried, a voice full of fear and desperate love.
Mama Lura paused. Her baby was terrified. He didn’t understand that she was just stepping away for a moment—he only felt the space between them grow, and it broke his tiny heart.
His body shook as he let out another scream, and tears welled up in his eyes. The caretakers rushed over to check, but Mama Lura returned immediately, wrapping him back in her arms with calm and care.
The moment her warmth returned, the baby stopped. His cries softened into soft whimpers. His head nestled against her, as if to say, “Don’t leave me again.”
Mama Lura kissed his head with her nose and rocked him gently, staying longer than she planned—because sometimes, a mother’s presence means everything.
