She was only hours old—a tiny, fragile newborn with a soft pink face and a tail longer than her body. Her eyes were barely open, and the world was still confusing. But the one thing this baby monkey instinctively searched for was the warmth and love of her mother.
But Mom Rosy didn’t want her.
Instead of cuddling close, Rosy pushed the baby aside. Every time the newborn cried or reached out, Rosy turned her back—or worse, gently shoved her away with an annoyed grunt. Caretakers watching nearby were heartbroken. This wasn’t a mother filled with love—this was a mother filled with rejection.
The newborn cried softly, dragging her long tail across the cold floor as she tried once more to snuggle close. But Rosy lifted her hand and pushed the baby aside again, turning away without even a glance.
The cries grew louder, filled with confusion and pain. She didn’t know what she had done wrong—only that her mother refused to love her.
Finally, one of the caregivers stepped in. Gently picking up the shaking baby, they wrapped her in a warm towel and held her close. The baby quieted slightly, exhausted and hurt, her tiny fingers clutching the cloth as if it were her mother’s fur.
“She deserves love,” the caregiver whispered. “Even if Rosy won’t give it.”
