While her mom was busy with chores—climbing, cleaning, and carrying leaves—Jasmine sat on the ground, arms crossed, eyes narrowed. She watched every move, waiting for even one moment of attention. But it didn’t come.

After a few minutes, Jasmine yelled. Loudly.

“Eeeek!! EEEK!!” Her little face scrunched up in frustration. She stomped her tiny feet, tugged on a branch, and let out another high-pitched cry. “Mooooom!”

But Mom was still too focused, trying to finish her work before sunset. She didn’t ignore Jasmine out of meanness—she was just trying to prepare food and shelter for both of them. Still, Jasmine didn’t understand that. All she felt was neglect.

She saw Jasmine sitting on a log, cheeks puffed out, making her “angry face.” It was hard not to smile, but Mom knew her little girl needed more than a grin. She gently walked over, picked Jasmine up, and gave her a soft hug.
