He was just a tiny thing—soft, gentle, and barely able to walk straight. Everyone called him Lilu, the quietest baby monkey in the bunch. Always the one to cuddle close, always the one with big innocent eyes.

But that morning… something changed.

Lilu had toddled over to Mom, hoping for milk and hugs. His little hands clung to her fur, his eyes shining with trust. But Mom was stressed—too many babies pulling at her, not enough rest, and frustration building.

When Lilu reached for her again, just a bit too eager… snap! She turned sharply and bit him on the arm.

A small bite, just a warning.

But it shattered him.

He froze, then whimpered so softly it almost didn’t sound real. His lip trembled, eyes wide with shock—not from pain, but from something deeper: hurt, confusion… heartbreak.

Why did Mommy do that?

He backed away slowly, clutching his arm and sitting down in the corner alone. No tantrum. No screaming. Just silence, and the saddest little face anyone had ever seen.

When Mom realized what she had done, her heart dropped. She rushed over, calling to him softly, reaching to hold him again.

But Lilu flinched.

That’s when it hit her.

“My sweet baby… I didn’t mean to,” she whispered, cradling him gently. Tears welled up in her own eyes as she rocked him.

The other babies watched quietly, sensing something serious. Even the playful Dam sat still.

Lilu slowly leaned into her, his head resting on her chest. Forgiving, but still fragile.

Sometimes, even mothers make mistakes.
