It was a busy afternoon on the farm, and Mom was working hard, moving tools and checking on the other animals. Little Max, the curious and clingy baby monkey, refused to stay in his basket. He wanted to be right there—glued to Mom’s back—like always.
Mom, trying to balance work and care, allowed Max to cling on while she moved around. At first, everything was fine. Max rested his little head on her shoulder, eyes half closed, enjoying the ride. But then, with one quick movement, Mom leaned over too far… and thump!
Max slipped and fell gently onto the soft dirt ground. It wasn’t a hard fall, but to Max, it was the end of the world.
He sat frozen for half a second… and then let out the most dramatic cry ever. His face turned red, his arms flailed, and he wailed like he’d been wronged by the whole universe. Angry tears rolled down his cheeks as he shouted in baby monkey language: “Why did you let me fall?!”
Mom turned around instantly, rushing to him. She scooped him up into her arms, brushing the dust off his fur and checking every tiny finger and toe. “You’re okay, baby,” she cooed, kissing his head softly.
But Max was in full tantrum mode. He twisted, turned, and pushed his tiny hands at Mom’s chest—both angry and hurt. He couldn’t understand that it was just an accident. All he wanted was reassurance that Mom still loved him just the same.
After a few minutes of snuggling and a warm bottle of milk, Max finally settled down. His angry sniffles faded, and he leaned into Mom’s arms, clinging tighter than before.
