The early morning mist hovered over the calm lake, its surface reflecting the golden sunrise. The peaceful silence was interrupted by a faint, desperate cry—a sound so fragile and weak that it almost blended with the rustling leaves.
A woman and her son, out for their usual morning walk, paused near the water’s edge. The cries continued. They exchanged worried glances before stepping closer to investigate. And then, nestled between damp leaves and twigs near the shore, they saw it—a tiny, helpless newborn baby monkey.
The infant lay curled up, shivering. His fur was wet, his tiny body frail, and his umbilical cord still attached. His little eyes were barely open, struggling to focus on the unfamiliar world around him. It was clear—he had been abandoned.
The boy gasped, reaching out gently. The baby monkey flinched but was too weak to resist. His tiny fingers trembled as he let out another heartbreaking cry, as if pleading for warmth, for safety.
Without hesitation, the woman removed her scarf, carefully wrapping the fragile creature. She held him close to her chest, letting her warmth seep into his trembling body. He felt warmth for the first time since his mother had left him.
They rushed home, preparing a soft bed for the little one. Warm milk was offered through a tiny syringe, drop by drop. At first, he was hesitant, but hunger soon won over. His small lips latched onto the syringe, drinking eagerly.
With every sip, his strength returned, and his cries softened. For the first time, he felt safe.
Now, his journey to survival had begun. Would he make it? Only time would tell.
