Baby monkey Bella sat on the small wooden table, her tiny hands waving dramatically as she chattered nonstop at her mommy. Her little lips moved quickly, her face full of expressions as if she were having the most serious conversation in the world.
Mommy was holding a banana, and Bella wanted it now! But instead of crying or throwing a tantrum, she decided to negotiate.
“Eeee-eeek! Ooo-ooo!” Bella squeaked, pointing at the banana and then at herself. She tilted her head and widened her big, round eyes, trying to look as cute as possible.
Mommy chuckled. “Bella, you just ate some fruit. Let’s wait a little.”
Bella gasped dramatically, placing her tiny hands on her chest as if she had just heard the most shocking news. She shook her head as if to say, ‘Unbelievable, Mommy!’
She scooted closer, reaching out her hand and patting Mommy’s arm softly. “Ooo-eee, eek-eek!” she babbled, her voice rising and falling like she was making a very important argument.
Mommy smiled but didn’t give in. “Bella, wait a little longer, okay?”
Bella paused. She looked at Mommy, then at the banana, then back at Mommy. Her lips pursed, and then suddenly—she flopped backward onto the table, dramatically spreading her arms out.
“Eeeeeeeh!” she whined, rolling side to side.
Mommy laughed. “Okay, little actress, you win.”
As soon as the banana was handed to her, Bella sat up immediately, clapping her tiny hands in victory. She took a big bite, her little tail wiggling with joy.
Bella might be tiny, but she sure knew how to negotiate like a pro!
