The night was peaceful, with the moon shining softly through the trees. Most of the troop had settled down for sleep, but little Yuri was wide awake. He sat on a small blanket, his round eyes scanning the dark surroundings. He wasn’t tired. More importantly, he wanted his mom’s attention—right now!
At first, he shifted restlessly, making small whimpering noises. But when his mom didn’t respond, Yuri’s frustration grew. He let out a dramatic, high-pitched cry, his tiny hands reaching toward her.
“Yuri, it’s bedtime,” his mom murmured sleepily, gently patting his head. But that wasn’t enough for the little troublemaker. He wanted cuddles, comfort, and undivided attention!
So, he cried louder. His tiny body shook as he wailed, throwing in small hiccups for extra drama. His mom sighed and pulled him close, but just as she thought he would calm down, Yuri decided to take it up another level. He flopped onto his back, kicking his legs and rolling around, making sure everyone knew he was not happy.
The other monkeys stirred. Some peeked over, grumbling about the late-night disturbance. Even an owl nearby gave an annoyed hoot.
Seeing that his mom still wasn’t giving him what he wanted, Yuri let out the loudest, most heart-wrenching cry he could manage. That did it! His mom sighed in defeat and scooped him up into her arms.
“Alright, baby, I’m here,” she whispered, rocking him gently.
Finally satisfied, Yuri sniffled, nuzzling into her chest. His tiny fingers clung to her fur as his cries turned into soft whimpers. Moments later, he was sound asleep, safe and warm in his mother’s embrace.
Mom sighed and smiled. Dramatic little baby, she thought, kissing his tiny forehead.
