It was a bright and warm afternoon when Sara’s mom decided it was time to head outside for a short walk. Little Sara, who had been learning to walk on her own, had recently become more independent, but today was different. As soon as her mom mentioned walking outside alone, everything changed.
Sara’s face crumpled in an instant, her bright eyes filling with confusion and panic. Her little body began to shake, and before her mom could react, Sara burst into loud, desperate cries. Her tiny hands reached out to her mom, begging to be picked up.
No, no! I don’t want to go alone! her cries seemed to scream.
Her mom, taken aback by the sudden outburst, knelt down to comfort her. “Sara, baby, it’s just a little walk. You’ll be fine,” she tried to reassure her, but Sara wasn’t hearing any of it.
Sara’s sobs became sharper, and her body trembled uncontrollably as she sank to the floor. Her tiny fists pounded the ground, and her legs kicked in protest. Her cries echoed around the yard, each one more desperate than the last. She couldn’t bear the thought of walking without her mom.
Seeing her little one in such distress, Sara’s mom immediately picked her up, holding her close to her chest. “Okay, okay, we won’t go if you’re this upset,” she murmured softly, stroking her back.
Sara’s cries slowly softened as she snuggled into her mom’s embrace, feeling safe again. Her tiny body relaxed in her mom’s arms, and she let out a soft sniffle.
For Sara, nothing in the world felt right unless her mom was there by her side
