It was late in the day when tiny Moly became completely exhausted. His little eyes kept closing, but he couldn’t seem to settle down by himself. He curled up on his soft blanket and made a tiny sleepy sound.
“Eee… Mommy…”
Mommy heard him immediately.
She walked over and found Moly rubbing his tired eyes, looking absolutely miserable. His little face was sleepy, but tears were slowly gathering in his eyes.
“Oh, poor Moly,” Mommy whispered. “Are you ready for bed?”
Moly looked up at her.
Then he stretched both tiny arms toward her.
“Eeee… eeee…”
It was the sweetest little request for a cuddle.
Mommy gently picked him up and brought him close. The moment Moly felt her arms around him, he pressed his face against her chest and began to calm down. His crying became soft little whimpers.
“There you go, my sleepy boy,” Mommy whispered. “Mommy is here.”
Moly tightened his tiny arms around her.
He didn’t want to be put down yet.
Every time Mommy moved slightly toward the bed, Moly clung to her more tightly. His sleepy eyes opened just enough to check that she was still holding him.
“You need Mommy’s hug before you can sleep?” she asked softly.
Moly answered with a tiny squeak and tucked his face beneath her chin.
Mommy smiled.
“Okay, sweetheart. Let’s have a cuddle.”
She settled beside his safe sleeping space and gently held him close, allowing him to relax. She kept him comfortably positioned and supervised, making sure he could breathe freely and wasn’t placed in an unsafe sleeping position.
Moly’s little body gradually became heavier.
His crying stopped.
His tiny fingers loosened around Mommy’s clothing, and his breathing became slow and peaceful.
Mommy gently stroked his head.
“Close your eyes, little Moly. Mommy is right here.”
Moly opened his eyes one last time.
He looked at Mommy.
Then he gave the tiniest sleepy smile.
His eyes closed again.
The little monkey who had been crying desperately for Mommy was finally calm. His tears had dried, his tired body was relaxed, and the comfort he had been searching for was right there beside him.
Mommy whispered, “Good night, my dear Moly.”
Moly gave one tiny sleepy sound before drifting peacefully into sleep.
That night, he didn’t need toys or excitement.
He simply needed the warmth of Mommy’s presence and a gentle hug before bedtime.
