The morning sunlight streamed into the small house as Harry’s mom bustled around, trying to get the chores done. Baby monkey Harry, however, had no interest in letting her work peacefully.

Clinging to her leg, he let out a high-pitched whine. “Eeeeeeek! Mommy carry!” he cried, pulling at her skirt with all his might.

“Harry, sweetheart, you’re a big boy now,” Mom said patiently, crouching down to meet his gaze. “You can walk by yourself, and Mommy needs her hands free to work.”

But Harry wasn’t convinced. He plopped down onto the floor, kicking his legs in protest. His tiny face turned red as he cried even louder, his wails echoing through the house.

Mom tried to distract him with toys, placing his favorite stuffed monkey in front of him. “Look, Harry! It’s Mr. Bananas!”

Harry barely glanced at it. Instead, he stretched his arms out toward her, tears streaming down his cheeks. “No! No toys! Carry me!”

Sighing, Mom gave in for a moment, scooping Harry up into her arms. Instantly, his cries turned into soft sniffles, and he clung to her like a little koala.

“You just want to be spoiled, don’t you?” she teased, kissing the top of his head.

Harry nuzzled into her shoulder, clearly content now that he had her full attention. But as soon as she tried to set him down again, the tantrum returned, louder than ever.

“Harry, you can’t always be carried,” Mom said with a mixture of exasperation and amusement. “You have to learn to play on your own sometimes.”

Harry, however, had his own plans. For the rest of the morning, he kept up his spoiled routine, ensuring Mom never got far without him clinging close.
