The morning had started peacefully when little baby monkey Max woke up hungry.
Mom prepared his milk and carefully held him in her arms.
Max was so hungry that he eagerly drank his bottle, swallowing quickly without wanting to stop.
Mom gently smiled.
“Slow down, sweetheart.”
But Max continued drinking.
He finished the bottle and immediately looked at Mom as if asking for more.
Mom hesitated, but Max kept reaching toward the bottle.
After a little while, he drank more milk than his tiny tummy could comfortably handle.
Then something suddenly went wrong.
Max stopped moving and made a small uncomfortable sound.
“Eee…”
Mom immediately noticed.
His little face looked uneasy.
A moment later, he vomited.
Mom was startled.
“Oh, my poor baby!”
She quickly put the bottle aside and carefully kept him upright and comfortable.
Max began crying softly, clearly frightened by what had happened.
Mom gently rubbed his back.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. Mommy is here.”
She cleaned his little face and kept watching him closely.
Dad came over after hearing the commotion.
“Is he alright?”
Mom nodded cautiously.
“I think he drank too much too quickly. We need to be more careful.”
She stayed calm and continued comforting Max.
Instead of offering another large feeding immediately, Mom followed the feeding guidance provided by his caregiver and watched carefully for any further signs of trouble.
Max slowly stopped crying.
His tiny body relaxed against Mom’s chest.
Mom kissed his forehead.
“You don’t have to finish everything at once, little one.”
Max gave a weak little squeak.
Dad gently rubbed his back.
“Sometimes little babies don’t know when they’ve had enough.”
Mom smiled softly.
“That’s why we have to help them.”
After some time, Max appeared calmer and more comfortable.
Mom continued monitoring him carefully and made sure he remained warm and safely positioned.
Eventually, his eyes became sleepy.
He rested his head against Mom’s shoulder, no longer crying.
Mom whispered,
“Mommy will always listen when your little tummy says it’s had enough.”
Max closed his eyes and relaxed in her arms.
The frightening moment reminded Mom how delicate newborn babies can be.
For tiny babies, feeding too quickly or taking more than they can comfortably handle can cause problems.
So from that day forward, Mom became even more careful about following appropriate feeding amounts and watching Max closely during every bottle.
And as little Max peacefully rested against her chest, Mom felt grateful that she had noticed his discomfort quickly and stayed by his side.
