The tiny newborn baby monkey had only been in his new home for a short time.
Mom carefully prepared a warm bottle of appropriate milk and sat down with him in a soft, cozy blanket.
“Come on, sweetheart,” she whispered gently. “It’s time for a little milk.”
The newborn looked at the bottle with wide, uncertain eyes.
Mom slowly brought it closer to his tiny mouth.
But the little monkey turned his head away.
He didn’t understand the bottle yet.
Mom tried again, patiently.
The newborn opened his mouth for a moment, then quickly pushed the bottle away with his tiny hand.
His little face became worried.
“Eee… eee…”
He began making soft, unhappy cries.
Mom’s heart sank.
“I know you’re hungry, little one. You’re still learning.”
She didn’t force him.
Instead, she held him close and let him become comfortable with the bottle.
Dad watched quietly nearby.
“Maybe he’s still frightened by something so new.”
Mom nodded.
“Everything is unfamiliar to him.”
She gently stroked his tiny head and allowed him to rest against her chest.
After a few moments, she tried again, carefully offering the bottle while keeping him warm and supported.
The newborn sniffed curiously.
He touched the bottle with one tiny hand.
Then he pulled away again.
His little eyes filled with tears.
Mom softly comforted him.
“It’s okay. We can take our time.”
She patiently followed the feeding guidance given by his caregiver and made sure he stayed warm and comfortable.
After several gentle attempts, the newborn finally became curious enough to taste a tiny amount.
He paused.
Then swallowed.
Mom’s face immediately brightened.
“Good boy.”
Another tiny sip followed.
Then another.
He still wasn’t drinking confidently, but he was beginning to understand.
Mom smiled proudly at every small attempt.
“There you go. You’re learning.”
The newborn slowly relaxed in her arms.
After a little more nourishment, he rested his head against her chest.
Mom gently rubbed his back and whispered,
“You don’t have to learn everything in one day.”
Dad smiled.
“Every tiny step is progress.”
The newborn gave a quiet little squeak and curled his fingers around Mom’s hand.
For the first time, the bottle didn’t seem quite so frightening.
Mom carefully settled him into his warm nest and stayed beside him.
She knew newborns could need patience and specialized care, especially when adjusting to feeding.
As the baby drifted toward sleep, Mom whispered,
“We’ll keep taking care of you, one little step at a time.”
The tiny monkey closed his eyes peacefully.
He had not mastered the bottle yet.
But he had taken his first brave sip.
And for Mom, that tiny sip felt like a huge victory.
