The morning was quiet when little Loco woke up from her nap.
She slowly opened her tiny eyes and looked around the room.
Everything seemed familiar.
Her soft blanket was beside her.
Her favorite little toy was nearby.
But someone was missing.
Mom.
Loco looked toward the doorway, waiting for Mom to return.
At first, she stayed quiet.
Maybe Mom would come back soon.
A few seconds passed.
Then another few seconds.
Still nothing.
Loco’s little face became serious.
She didn’t understand why Mom had walked away.
Her tiny lips began to tremble.
“Mama…”
Her voice was barely a whisper.
When there was no answer, tears began filling her eyes.
Loco sat up and stretched both little arms toward the doorway.
“Waaaah!”
Her soft cry quickly became louder.
Mom was only in the next room preparing a fresh bottle, but Loco couldn’t see her.
To the tiny monkey, it felt like she had been left all alone.
She hugged her blanket tightly and turned her face away, becoming unusually moody.
When Mom finally returned, she immediately noticed Loco’s tearful expression.
“Oh, Loco…”
Mom hurried over.
But instead of reaching for her, Loco turned her tiny face away.
She was hurt.
Mom gently knelt beside her.
“Mommy is sorry, sweetheart.”
Loco didn’t look at her.
She crossed her little arms and made a tiny unhappy sound.
Mom smiled sadly.
“Are you upset because Mommy left you alone?”
Loco finally looked at her.
Her eyes were still wet.
Then she reached one tiny hand toward Mom.
Mom immediately took it.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered again. “I only went to get your milk. I didn’t mean to make you feel lonely.”
Loco stared at her for a moment before suddenly reaching both arms forward.
Mom gently lifted her into a warm cuddle.
Loco buried her face against Mom’s shoulder and held on tightly.
Her tiny body relaxed as Mom softly rubbed her back.
“There you are, my little Loco.”
The resentment slowly disappeared.
Mom kissed her forehead.
“You can always tell Mommy when you’re upset.”
Loco gave a tiny sniffle and hugged her even tighter.
Dad walked into the room and smiled.
“Looks like someone has forgiven Mommy.”
Mom laughed softly.
“I hope so.”
She gave Loco her warm bottle while keeping her safely in her arms.
Loco drank peacefully, occasionally looking up at Mom as if checking that she was still there.
When the bottle was empty, she rested her sleepy head against Mom’s chest.
Mom gently rocked her.
“I’ll always come back to you.”
Loco’s eyes slowly closed.
The little monkey who had felt forgotten only minutes earlier was now completely peaceful.
She had learned that even when Mom disappeared from sight, Mom’s love had never disappeared.
And Mom learned something too.
For a tiny baby, a few minutes alone can feel like a very long time.
Sometimes all they need is a gentle apology, a warm hug, and the reassurance that they are never forgotten.
