The morning sun gently peeked through the curtains as little baby monkey Leo slowly opened his sleepy eyes.
He stretched his tiny arms, rubbed his face, and looked around from his soft little bed.
Everything was quiet.
The warm blanket was still wrapped around him.
His favorite stuffed toy rested beside him.
But something was missing.
Mom.
Leo blinked again, searching every corner of the room.
Usually, the first thing he saw every morning was Mom’s warm smile.
She would gently stroke his soft fur and whisper, “Good morning, my precious little one.”
But today, she wasn’t there.
Leo’s tiny heart began to race.
He sat up and looked toward the doorway.
No Mom.
He peeked behind his blanket.
Still no Mom.
His little lips started to tremble.
Then tears filled his big round eyes.
“Waaaah… Mama!”
His lonely cries echoed through the quiet house.
Tiny tears rolled down his fluffy cheeks as he reached both little arms into the air, hoping Mom would suddenly appear.
He didn’t understand that Mom had only stepped into the kitchen to prepare his warm morning bottle.
To Leo, it felt as though she had disappeared.
Dad heard the cries and hurried into the room.
“Oh, sweetheart,” he said softly. “Mom is right here.”
Leo looked at Dad, but his crying didn’t stop.
He loved Dad very much.
But at that moment, he wanted only one person.
Mom.
His cries became louder.
He hugged his little blanket tightly, trying to comfort himself, but it wasn’t enough.
A few moments later, Mom heard the heartbreaking cries and rushed back into the room with the freshly prepared bottle of warm milk.
“My precious baby!”
The instant Leo saw her, his watery eyes became wide with relief.
He stretched both tiny arms toward her.
Mom gently picked him up and held him close against her chest.
“I’m so sorry you were scared,” she whispered as she softly rubbed his back.
“I’m here now.”
Leo buried his tiny face into Mom’s shoulder and held onto her shirt with both little hands, refusing to let go.
His loud sobs slowly became quiet sniffles.
Mom kissed his forehead again and again until he finally relaxed.
Dad smiled from the doorway.
“He just needed to know his mommy was close.”
Mom nodded.
“Sometimes little babies don’t understand that even if they can’t see us, we always come back.”
She gently offered Leo his warm bottle.
He eagerly drank every sip while remaining safely cuddled in her arms.
With each swallow, his little body relaxed more and more.
Soon, the tears had completely disappeared.
Instead of crying, Leo looked up at Mom with a tiny smile.
Mom smiled back.
“There’s my brave little boy.”
After finishing his milk, Leo rested his head against her chest, listening to the familiar rhythm of her heartbeat.
It was his favorite sound in the whole world.
Within minutes, his eyelids grew heavy once again.
Wrapped in Mom’s loving embrace, he peacefully drifted back to sleep.
As she gently rocked him, Mom whispered, “You’ll never be alone for long, my sweet baby. No matter where I am, I’ll always come back to you.”
And surrounded by warmth, comfort, and endless love, little Leo dreamed peacefully, knowing that Mommy’s arms would always be his safest place.
