The rain tapped softly against the windows as little A Tong sat quietly on his favorite blanket.
Usually, he was playful and curious, always following Mom around the house with bright, happy eyes. But today was different.
A Tong didn’t run.
He didn’t play.
He simply sat there, hugging his tiny knees, staring silently toward Mom.
His eyes were full of sadness.
Earlier that morning, A Tong had woken up feeling lonely. Mom had been busy caring for the younger baby monkeys, preparing bottles, changing diapers, and cleaning blankets. She never forgot about A Tong, but she had far more work than usual.
To A Tong, it felt as though the house had become too busy for cuddles.
As Mom folded clean towels, she noticed two little eyes watching her from across the room.
A Tong hadn’t moved.
He simply stared at her with the most heartbreaking expression.
His tiny lips trembled.
His ears drooped.
He didn’t cry loudly.
He didn’t throw a tantrum.
He only looked at Mom as if quietly asking, “Will you still hold me today?”
Mom’s heart melted.
She immediately walked over and knelt beside him.
“My sweet A Tong,” she whispered gently.
The little monkey slowly lifted both tiny arms toward her.
That was all he wanted.
A hug.
Mom smiled warmly and lifted him into her arms.
The moment his little body rested against her chest, A Tong let out a long, peaceful sigh.
His tiny hands wrapped tightly around Mom’s shirt, refusing to let go.
“It’s okay,” Mom whispered, gently stroking his soft fur.
“I’m still here.”
A Tong buried his face against her shoulder.
For several quiet minutes, neither of them moved.
Dad watched from the doorway and smiled.
“He just needed to know he was still your special boy.”
Mom nodded.
“Sometimes love isn’t about toys or treats.”
“It’s simply about being close.”
A Tong slowly looked up into Mom’s eyes.
His sad expression had already begun to disappear.
Mom gently kissed his forehead.
Then she carried him outside into the warm afternoon sunshine.
The fresh breeze softly moved through the trees as birds sang nearby.
Mom sat on a wooden bench with A Tong resting comfortably on her lap.
She gently scratched behind his tiny ears, one of his favorite things.
A Tong closed his eyes happily.
His little tail relaxed.
Every bit of worry slowly faded away.
After a while, Chichi wandered over carrying a colorful toy.
She gently placed it beside A Tong before sitting quietly next to him.
A Tong looked at the toy.
Then at Chichi.
He smiled.
The three of them sat together peacefully, enjoying the gentle afternoon.
There was no rush.
No loud noises.
Only warmth.
Only love.
As the sun slowly began to set, A Tong yawned and snuggled even closer to Mom.
His tiny fingers still held onto her shirt.
Mom smiled lovingly.
“My precious boy, you never have to beg for my love.”
“You already have it.”
A Tong looked up one last time before closing his sleepy eyes.
The sadness that had filled his heart that morning was gone.
He had learned something comforting.
Even on the busiest days, Mom’s love never became smaller.
Sometimes she simply needed a little time before wrapping him in the warm embrace he had been quietly hoping for.
With Mom’s heartbeat gently echoing in his ears and Chichi sitting faithfully beside them, A Tong drifted peacefully to sleep, surrounded by the care, comfort, and unconditional love he had longed for all day.
