The first rays of sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a golden glow over the forest. Baby Monkey Abi stirred in her cozy nest, rubbing her sleepy eyes. She let out a tiny yawn, stretched her little arms, and looked around. Her mother was nowhere to be seen.

“Mama?” Abi called softly, her voice tinged with curiosity. She stood up, her tiny feet making soft rustling sounds on the dried leaves, and began her search.

Abi climbed down from her nest carefully, her small hands gripping the sturdy branches. As she reached the forest floor, the morning dew tickled her toes. Birds chirped in the trees, and the air was alive with the buzz of the waking forest.

She peeked behind a bush, hoping to find her mother there, but only a group of butterflies greeted her. They fluttered around her, and Abi giggled, momentarily distracted by their vibrant colors.

“Mama, where are you?” she called again, her voice a little louder now. Abi scurried through the undergrowth, her tiny heart racing. She stopped at a clearing and sniffed the air. That’s when she caught the faint, familiar scent of her mother.

Following the trail, Abi climbed over rocks and hopped across a shallow stream. She finally spotted her mother gathering fruits near a tall fig tree. “Mama!” Abi cried out, her voice filled with relief.

Her mother turned around, her face lighting up with a warm smile. “Abi, there you are!” she said, scooping the little monkey into her arms. Abi hugged her tightly, burying her face in her mother’s fur.

“I woke up and you were gone,” Abi said, her voice muffled.

“I was getting us breakfast,” her mother replied, holding up a handful of ripe figs. “Come on, let’s eat together.”

Abi’s worries melted away as she nibbled on the sweet fruit, sitting safely in her mother’s embrace. The forest seemed even more beautiful now that she was back where she belonged.
