The moment Mom stepped away, little Doddy felt it instantly.
The space around him grew too quiet, too empty. His tiny eyes followed where she had gone, hoping she would come right back.
But she didn’t.
Not yet.
His lips trembled.
His small hands lifted, fluttering in the air as if he could reach her from far away.
Then—
“AHHHHH!”
Doddy burst into dramatic crying.
His little body shook as he flapped his hands quickly, calling out with urgency and emotion. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he cried louder and louder, his voice echoing with one clear message—
Come back!
Now!
“Mama! Mama!”
He called again, fluttering his arms faster, his tiny chest rising quickly with each breath. He couldn’t stay still, couldn’t stay calm.
He needed her.
Immediately.
To Doddy, even a short moment without Mom felt too long, too scary, too lonely.
His cries grew louder, more desperate, as if each sound could pull her closer.
Then—
Footsteps.
Fast.
Familiar.
Mom returned.
The moment Doddy saw her, his cries became even louder for a brief second, releasing all his feelings at once. His arms lifted high, asking to be picked up right away.
She rushed over and scooped him into her arms.
Instant change.
His loud cries softened into shaky little sobs as he clung tightly, pressing his face into her shoulder.
Safe again.
Warm again.
Complete again.
Mom gently rocked him. “I’m here, baby… I’m back.”
And Doddy held on, not letting go.
Because sometimes, for a tiny heart—
Even a small goodbye feels like forever—
Until Mom comes back.
