Dramatic little Linda cried with a broken heart the moment she realized mom was leaving for work. Her face changed instantly—eyes wide, lips trembling—before the crying burst out loud and sharp. She reached toward the door with both hands, anger and sadness mixing together in her tiny body.
“Mom… don’t go…” her cries seemed to beg.
Linda shook her head fiercely, refusing to accept it. She stomped her feet and screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks nonstop. To her, mom leaving didn’t mean work. It meant separation. It meant loneliness. And that feeling was too big for her small heart.
Mom knelt down quickly, trying to explain with gentle words and soft touches. She hugged Linda tightly, kissing her head, promising she would come back. But Linda clung harder, wrapping her arms around mom’s neck as if holding on could stop time. Her crying grew louder, more dramatic, full of anger and fear.
When mom finally stood up, Linda collapsed onto the floor, crying in heartbreak. Her shoulders shook with sobs, and her hands covered her face. She wasn’t being naughty. She was grieving the moment before it even ended.
Mom paused at the door, eyes full of tears. Leaving hurt her too. She turned back one more time, crouched down, and held Linda close again. Linda cried into her chest, breath hitching, refusing to let go.
After mom finally left, Linda stayed where she was, crying softly now, exhausted by emotion. Someone nearby tried to comfort her, but she turned away, still loyal to mom. Slowly, her cries faded into quiet sniffles.
That moment showed how deeply Linda loved. Her anger wasn’t disrespect. Her drama wasn’t misbehavior. It was attachment. It was trust. It was love so strong that even a short goodbye felt like a broken heart.
And though she didn’t know it yet, mom would come back.
But for Linda, that goodbye still hurt—deeply.
