The early morning sun stretched across the yard as Daddy walked out with a small bucket of feed. The chickens fluttered excitedly, pecking at the ground before he even poured the first handful. But behind him, two tiny twin baby monkeys sat quietly, side by side, watching with uncertain eyes.
Ronaldo and Selena were still very young, and every moment without Daddy close felt like forever to them. They had just finished waking up, their fur still soft and slightly messy, and the cool morning air made them shiver. Selena leaned closer to Ronaldo, wrapping her tiny arms around him. He didn’t hesitate—he hugged her right back, their little bodies pressing together for warmth and comfort.
They didn’t understand why Daddy had to feed the chickens first. All they saw was distance—Daddy walking away, leaving them sitting on the step alone. Selena let out a soft whimper, her eyes following him with worry as the chickens crowded around. Ronaldo, though sad too, tried to be strong for his sister. He gently touched her head, telling her without words, “I’m here.”
Dad finally noticed the silence behind him and turned around. What he saw made his heart melt—two tiny babies hugging each other tightly, their big eyes looking at him with sorrow and longing. He rushed back immediately, bending down to stroke their little heads.
“Sorry, babies… Daddy’s here,” he whispered.
Selena’s lower lip trembled before she buried her face into his chest. Ronaldo leaned against his leg, holding onto his pants like he never wanted him to walk away again.
Dad sat down and pulled both babies into his lap. He fed the chickens with one hand while holding his twins safely in the other. With Daddy close, the yard didn’t feel empty anymore. Their little hearts relaxed, knowing they were safe, loved, and together.
