The tiny newborn monkey lay wrapped in a soft towel on the wooden table, his eyes still sleepy but his mouth ready for anything that smelled sweet. Dad held a small spoon filled with mashed fruit—just a tiny amount, soft and gentle, perfect for a first taste. As soon as the spoon came closer, the baby suddenly opened his mouth as wide as he possibly could, surprising even himself. It looked like he was trying to eat the whole spoon in one bite.

Dad laughed softly. “Okay, okay… slow down, little guy,” he murmured, steadying the spoon. The newborn’s hands twitched excitedly, and his tongue peeked out before the spoon even touched his lips. The moment that tiny drop of mashed fruit hit his tongue, his whole body reacted—eyes wider, head lifting slightly, mouth opening again instantly like a hungry baby bird.

It was his first fruit ever, and he wanted more.

Dad patiently scooped another small spoonful, bringing it close. Again, that big newborn mouth stretched open, even bigger this time, like he wasn’t afraid to show how badly he wanted another taste. His tiny belly rose and fell with excited breaths, and soft little squeaks escaped him each time Dad paused.

A bit of fruit smudged on his cheek, another drop touched his nose, but he didn’t care. All he knew was that this new taste was wonderful, and he didn’t want it to stop. Dad wiped his face gently, but the newborn fussed, kicking his tiny feet and opening his mouth again, begging for more.

Even though he was still weak and newly rescued, that moment showed a spark of strength inside him. Every spoonful made him brighter, livelier, more alive.

And with his big wide mouth and determined appetite, Dad knew—
this little one was ready to fight for life.
