Selena Cries Loudly Searching for Mom

The sun was just beginning to rise over the quiet field when newborn baby monkey Selena took her first shaky steps. Her fur was still soft and thin, her eyes barely open, and her little belly rose and fell with quick, frightened breaths. She didn’t know where she was — only that something was missing.

Her mother.

Selena let out a tiny whimper that soon grew into a loud, heartbreaking cry. Her mouth opened wide as she screamed for the only voice she wanted to hear — her mom’s gentle call. But the forest around her stayed silent. The sound of rustling leaves answered her instead, making her tremble with fear.

With all the strength her fragile body could gather, Selena took another step forward. Her small feet sank slightly into the soft ground as she tried to walk, wobbling side to side. She fell, rolled a little, but still didn’t give up. Each fall was followed by another desperate cry — louder, more sorrowful, as if she was begging the world to bring her mother back.

A kind caregiver, who had been searching nearby, heard the faint sound of her cries. He followed the echo until he found the tiny newborn — trembling, weak, and crying with her mouth open wide. The sight broke his heart. He knelt slowly, afraid to startle her, and whispered softly, “It’s okay, baby… you’re safe now.”

Selena froze for a moment, then let out one last pitiful cry before the caregiver gently lifted her into his warm hands. She clung to his finger instinctively, her small body pressing against his palm for comfort.

The caregiver wrapped her in a soft towel and gave her a small bottle of milk. Though confused at first, Selena began to drink, her cries fading into soft hiccups. Her eyes fluttered as warmth spread through her — not the same as her mother’s embrace, but something close.

By the time she finished, Selena was calm, tucked safely in the man’s arms. Her journey to find her mom had ended, but her new life had just begun — one filled with love, safety, and gentle care.
