It was a bright morning in the yard when little Chamroeun and Luna, two playful baby monkeys, spotted something curious — a pile of straw neatly arranged under a tree. Their eyes sparkled with excitement. “What’s that?” Luna whispered. Chamroeun, always the brave one, tiptoed closer.
Hidden inside the straw were smooth, oval eggs — warm and glowing in the sunlight. The two monkeys couldn’t resist. They reached out with gentle fingers, curious to touch the treasures. But before they could even blink, a loud “Bwaaaak!” shook the air.
Out of nowhere came the angry chicken — feathers puffed, eyes blazing like tiny fireballs! She flapped her wings furiously, running straight toward the startled baby monkeys. Chamroeun jumped backward, Luna squealed, and both scrambled up the nearest tree. The hen circled below, still clucking angrily, guarding her precious eggs with fierce determination.
From their perch, Chamroeun peeked down and whispered, “She’s so angry!” Luna nodded, her little heart thumping. “Maybe she thought we wanted to steal her babies.”
The caretaker nearby laughed softly at the funny scene. “That’s Mama Hen,” she explained. “She’s not mean — she’s just protecting her eggs. She’ll calm down once she knows you mean no harm.”
A few minutes later, the two monkeys climbed down slowly and waved goodbye to the hen from a distance. They had learned their lesson: even the smallest creatures can be brave when it comes to love.
That afternoon, Chamroeun and Luna played under another tree — far from Mama Hen’s nest — giggling every time they remembered her fierce little face. And somewhere nearby, the hen rested proudly over her eggs, content that her tiny family was safe once again.
