The sun had barely risen, but the room echoed with sharp, furious cries. Little Zaza, the baby monkey, was pounding on the wooden wall with her tiny fists, her voice cracking from nonstop screaming.
She didn’t understand why her mom had left her inside.
Just minutes earlier, she had been clinging to her mother’s back, hoping for playtime or a cuddle. But her mom, looking tense and irritated, had gently set her down inside the small room and quietly closed the door.
Zaza had watched in disbelief as the latch clicked.
At first, she just sat there—confused, blinking.
Then came the panic.
She ran to the door, shook it with all her strength, and screamed. Her tiny fingers scratched at the cracks, her cries filled with frustration, fear, and heartbreak.
“Why would mom do this?”
Was she mad? Tired? Did Zaza misbehave?
She didn’t know. All she knew was the cold floor, the closed door, and the terrible silence outside.
A caretaker heard the commotion and peeked in. Zaza rushed to them, her eyes pleading. The caretaker knelt down, opened the door gently, and scooped her up into warm arms.
Zaza clung tightly, still crying but starting to calm.
Her mother stood nearby, watching quietly. Perhaps she needed a short break. Perhaps she was struggling, too. Parenting is never easy, not even in the animal world.
Slowly, she approached. The caretaker gently passed Zaza back. And though Zaza sniffled, she didn’t resist.
Her mother hugged her close.
There were no words—just the deep comfort of being together again.
Because for a baby monkey like Zaza, no matter how upset she gets, her heart always hopes for her mom’s return.
