Little baby monkey Mato was having a rough morning. He had just woken up, still feeling sleepy and grumpy. Instead of cuddling him like usual, Mom was busy cleaning the yard, sweeping leaves and organizing everything. Mato didn’t understand why she wasn’t giving him her full attention — and he didn’t like it one bit.
So, Mato decided to protest the only way he knew how. He flopped down dramatically right onto the dusty floor, crossing his tiny arms and kicking his feet slightly. His sleepy eyes blinked slowly, but he stayed stubborn, refusing to move. He let out small whiny cries now and then, just to make sure Mom could hear how upset he was.
From the corner of his eye, Mato watched Mom busily sweeping, completely focused on her work. It made him even more frustrated! How could she not notice his dramatic little tantrum? He turned his back toward her and pressed his cheek against the cool ground, sulking even harder.
Mom eventually glanced over and smiled softly at her grumpy baby. She knew Mato was still half-asleep and just craving attention. She finished sweeping a little faster, then walked over to scoop him gently into her arms.
The moment Mato felt Mom’s warm hug, his body relaxed completely. His tiny hands clutched her shirt, and he let out a big, sleepy sigh. All he really wanted was to feel safe and loved again.
Soon enough, Mato was fast asleep against Mom’s chest, while she continued tidying up one-handed. Even though the yard still needed cleaning, Mom knew that comforting her tiny baby was the most important job of all.
