The warm afternoon sun shone down on the quiet river, casting golden reflections on the surface. The soft ripples moved gently, creating a peaceful rhythm. On this calm water, something unexpected happened—a tiny baby monkey named Garina was floating!
Garina’s small body lay on her back, her tiny arms spread wide, and her fluffy belly slightly wet. Her eyes were closed, her face relaxed—she was asleep! The water carried her gently, rocking her like a cradle.
Her mother, who had been sitting on a nearby rock, suddenly turned around and froze in shock.
“Garina!” she gasped.
She jumped up, her heart pounding. At first, she thought her little one was in trouble, but then she noticed Garina’s tiny chest rising and falling peacefully.
She wasn’t drowning—she was enjoying the water like a baby floating in a hammock!
But her mother wasn’t convinced. Without wasting another second, she leaped into the water and splashed toward Garina. The sudden movement sent small waves toward the sleeping baby monkey, and Garina twitched, blinking in confusion.
She lifted her little head and saw her mom’s worried face. Then, with a tiny yawn, she stretched her arms and smiled sleepily.
Her mother scooped her up immediately, hugging her tightly. “Silly girl! You scared me!” she murmured, pressing her wet nose against Garina’s fur.
Garina, still half-asleep, giggled and snuggled into her mother’s chest. The gentle waves continued to lap against the shore as the two monkeys sat together, safe and warm.
From that day on, Garina’s mother never let her nap near the water again!
