Deep in the jungle, little Rainbow, a tiny baby monkey, clung tightly to a low branch. His big eyes were filled with sadness as he watched the other baby monkeys cuddling with their mothers.
Rainbow didn’t have his real mother anymore. Instead, he had Step-Mummy Libby, who was supposed to take care of him. But Libby was not kind.
When Rainbow reached out for warmth, Libby pushed him away. When he tried to share food, she snatched it first, leaving him with only scraps.
The other monkeys in the troop noticed.
“Why is Libby so cold to him?”
“He is just a baby… he needs love.”
Rainbow didn’t understand. Had he done something wrong? He only wanted to be loved.
One day, he tripped while following Libby and fell onto the ground. He whimpered, holding his tiny arm in pain. He looked up at Libby, hoping she would help.
But she just stared at him. Then, without a word, she walked away.
Tears filled Rainbow’s eyes. He felt so alone.
Just then, an older monkey named Mira rushed over. She gently scooped Rainbow up, brushing off the dirt. “Oh, little one,” she whispered. “You deserve kindness.”
Mira cuddled him close, wrapping her tail around him for warmth. For the first time in days, Rainbow felt safe.
From that moment on, Mira became his protector. Even though his stepmother had pushed him away, Rainbow learned that love could still be found in unexpected places.
And in Mira’s arms, he finally felt at home.
