The afternoon was quiet when little Rojo woke up from a peaceful nap.
She opened her sleepy eyes and looked around her cozy little space.
Everything seemed fine at first.
Her soft blanket was beside her.
Her favorite toy was nearby.
But then Rojo noticed something very important.
Her pacifier was lying on the other side of the mat.
It wasn’t very far for Mom.
But for tiny Rojo, it felt impossibly far away.
She stared at it.
She reached one tiny hand toward it.
Her little fingers stretched as far as they could.
But she couldn’t reach.
Rojo tried again.
Still nothing.
Her tiny face slowly became sad.
Her lips began to tremble.
“Mmm… mama…”
Mom was nearby, preparing some clean clothes.
She heard the soft whimper but didn’t realize what had happened.
Rojo looked at the pacifier again.
She wanted it so badly.
Her little arms waved toward it as she made increasingly frustrated sounds.
“Eee… eee…”
Then her eyes filled with tears.
“WAAAAAH!”
Mom immediately turned around.
“Oh, Rojo! What happened, sweetheart?”
Rojo looked at Mom, then pointed toward the pacifier with her tiny hand.
Mom finally understood.
“Oh! Is your pacifier too far away?”
Rojo gave another little cry as if saying, “Yes, Mommy!”
Mom smiled gently and walked over.
She picked up the pacifier and carefully offered it to Rojo.
The transformation was instant.
Rojo stopped crying.
Her watery eyes became calm as she took the pacifier.
She held it close for a moment before happily settling down against her soft blanket.
Mom laughed softly.
“Such a tiny problem for such a big cry.”
Rojo looked up at her with sleepy eyes.
Mom gently stroked her fluffy head.
“I know, my little girl. Mommy should have noticed sooner.”
Rojo quietly sucked on her pacifier while holding onto Mom’s finger.
Dad walked into the room and smiled.
“Was the pacifier emergency serious?”
Mom laughed.
“Very serious, apparently.”
Rojo seemed completely satisfied now.
Her earlier tears had disappeared, replaced by a peaceful little expression.
Mom sat beside her and gently rubbed her back.
“You can always call Mommy when you need help.”
Rojo gave a tiny happy sound around her pacifier.
Soon, her eyelids became heavy.
The comfort of her favorite pacifier and Mom’s gentle touch made her feel safe again.
Within minutes, little Rojo drifted peacefully back to sleep.
Mom quietly smiled as she watched her.
Sometimes, the smallest things can feel like the biggest problems to a tiny baby.
But a loving parent knows that even when the problem is simply a pacifier lying a few inches too far away, a comforting hand and a little patience can make everything feel right again.
