Dark clouds covered the sky as a heavy rain poured outside, filling the yard with the sound of splashing water and rumbling thunder.
Inside the cozy house, little baby monkey Jasmine had just woken up from her afternoon nap.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked around for the one person she wanted most.
“Mom?”
But Mom wasn’t beside her.
She had stepped into the kitchen for only a moment to warm Jasmine’s bottle of milk and prepare a fresh diaper.
To tiny Jasmine, it felt like she had been gone forever.
Mom gently placed Jasmine on a soft towel on the table before leaving the room.
“I’ll be right back, sweetheart,” she whispered.
But Jasmine didn’t understand.
The loud rain beating against the roof startled her.
Another clap of thunder echoed through the house.
BOOM!
Jasmine jumped in surprise.
Her tiny lips began to tremble.
Then came a soft whimper.
“Eee… eee…”
When Mom didn’t return immediately, Jasmine’s little whimpers turned into a dramatic cry.
“WAAAAAH!!”
Tears rolled down her fluffy cheeks as she kicked her tiny feet against the soft towel.
She stretched both little arms toward the doorway, desperately calling for Mom.
Outside, the rain grew even heavier.
The wind rattled the windows.
Another loud rumble filled the sky.
Jasmine cried even louder.
Her tiny body shook with fear.
Dad hurried into the room after hearing the heartbreaking cries.
“Oh, little Jasmine,” he said gently. “The thunder scared you, didn’t it?”
He softly rubbed her back, but Jasmine kept reaching toward the kitchen.
She wanted only one person.
Mom.
The moment Mom heard Jasmine’s loud cries, she immediately hurried back with the warm bottle in one hand and a clean blanket in the other.
“My precious girl!”
She quickly lifted Jasmine into her warm embrace.
Almost instantly, Jasmine wrapped both tiny arms tightly around Mom’s neck.
Her loud sobs slowly became quiet sniffles.
Mom gently kissed her forehead again and again.
“It’s okay, sweetheart.”
“The rain can’t hurt you.”
“I’m right here.”
Jasmine buried her tiny face against Mom’s shoulder, listening to the familiar heartbeat that always made her feel safe.
The scary thunder suddenly didn’t seem so frightening anymore.
Dad smiled as he watched them.
“I think someone just needed Mommy’s hug.”
Mom laughed softly.
“And maybe an extra cuddle because of the rain.”
She gently rocked Jasmine while offering her the warm bottle of milk.
The hungry little monkey eagerly drank every sip.
With each swallow, the tears disappeared.
Her tiny body relaxed completely.
Soon, only the sound of gentle rain could be heard outside.
The thunder faded into the distance.
After finishing her bottle, Jasmine gave a tiny yawn and rested her sleepy head against Mom’s chest.
Mom wrapped the soft blanket around her and whispered, “Whenever the rain feels loud or the world feels scary, remember that Mommy’s arms will always be your safest place.”
Within minutes, Jasmine drifted peacefully to sleep, comforted by the warmth of Mom’s embrace.
Outside, the storm slowly passed, and sunlight began peeking through the clouds.
Inside the house, everything was peaceful again.
The frightened tears, dramatic tantrum, and loud cries were replaced by quiet breathing and sweet dreams.
For little Jasmine, no storm was ever too big when she was wrapped safely in the loving arms of the person she trusted most.
