The house had changed since the newborn baby monkey arrived.
Before that day, little Pavpav had always been the center of attention.
Mom carried him everywhere.
Dad played with him every morning.
Whenever Pavpav cried, someone immediately came running.
But now there was someone new in the house.
Someone much smaller.
A fragile newborn baby monkey who needed constant feeding, warmth, and care.
At first, Pavpav was curious.
He watched from a distance as Mom wrapped the newborn in a soft blanket.
He stared when Dad prepared milk.
And whenever the baby cried, Pavpav hurried over to investigate.
But slowly, curiosity turned into something else.
Jealousy.
One afternoon, the newborn was resting peacefully on a soft mattress near Mom.
Pavpav walked closer.
He looked at the baby.
Then at Mom.
Then back at the baby.
Mom smiled.
“Be gentle, Pavpav. He’s very small.”
Pavpav slowly reached out and touched the blanket.
For a moment, everything seemed fine.
Then Mom turned around briefly to pick up a clean towel.
Suddenly, Pavpav placed both little hands against the newborn’s blanket and began pushing.
The tiny baby moved dangerously close to the edge.
Mom turned around.
“Pavpav!”
She rushed forward and caught the newborn before he could fall.
The frightened baby immediately began crying.
His tiny screams filled the room.
Mom held him tightly against her chest, checking carefully to make sure he was safe.
Pavpav froze.
Mom looked at him seriously.
“No, Pavpav. You must never push the baby.”
Pavpav immediately looked away.
His little face became stubborn.
Mom could see something deeper behind his naughty behavior.
He wasn’t trying to be cruel.
He was confused.
The baby had suddenly taken the arms that once held only him.
When Mom cuddled the newborn, Pavpav watched.
When she fed him, Pavpav watched.
Perhaps in his little heart, he wondered whether there was still enough love left for him.
Mom placed the newborn safely in his basket.
Then she sat beside Pavpav.
At first, he refused to look at her.
“Pavpav.”
Still nothing.
Mom gently opened her arms.
That was all it took.
Pavpav suddenly rushed forward and buried himself against her chest.
He held her tightly.
Very tightly.
Mom finally understood.
“You thought Mom forgot about you?”
Pavpav made a soft sound and refused to let go.
Mom stroked his head.
“There’s enough love for both of you.”
After a long cuddle, Mom brought Pavpav near the newborn again.
This time, she stayed beside them.
“Look how tiny he is,” she whispered.
The newborn stretched one little hand from beneath the blanket.
Pavpav stared.
Slowly, carefully, he offered one finger.
The baby’s tiny hand wrapped around it.
Pavpav froze.
His expression changed.
For the first time, he seemed to understand that this wasn’t a rival trying to steal Mom.
This was simply a helpless little baby.
Later that evening, Mom noticed something surprising.
Pavpav was sitting quietly beside the newborn’s basket.
When the baby’s blanket slipped slightly, Pavpav carefully pulled at the corner as if trying to cover him again.
Mom smiled from across the room.
Pavpav still had much to learn.
There would probably be more jealousy, more naughty moments, and many lessons ahead.
But love takes patience.
And sometimes, a little heart simply needs reassurance that welcoming someone new doesn’t mean losing the love it already has.
That night, there was room in Mom’s arms for both of them.
