The room echoed with loud, heartbreaking cries as little Lina lay on the floor, her tiny body shaking with emotion.

“Ahhh! Ahhh!”

Tears streamed down her cheeks, her small hands reaching upward again and again. She didn’t want toys. She didn’t want snacks.

She wanted Mom.

She wanted to be picked up.

Now.

But Mom was busy.

“Just wait a little, Lina,” she said softly, trying to finish what she was doing.

Wait?

To Lina, that felt impossible.

Her cries grew louder, sharper, filled with frustration and hurt. She rolled slightly on the floor, kicking her little legs and waving her arms dramatically, making sure everyone knew exactly how upset she was.

Her face turned red.

Her sobs became heavier.

She looked up at Mom with wide, tearful eyes, as if asking, Why won’t you hold me?

Every second without those warm arms felt too long.

Too lonely.

“Mama! Mama!” her cries seemed to scream.

Still, Mom tried to calm her from a distance. “I’m here, baby…”

But Lina didn’t want words.

She wanted closeness.

She wanted comfort.

She wanted to feel safe again.

Finally, seeing her little heart breaking on the floor, Mom couldn’t wait any longer.

She rushed over and scooped Lina up into her arms.

Instantly, everything changed.

The loud screams softened into shaky little sobs as Lina clung tightly, burying her face against Mom’s shoulder. Her tiny fingers gripped as if she would never let go.

“There you are…” Mom whispered, rocking her gently.

The storm passed.

Because sometimes, a little one doesn’t need anything in the world—

Except to be held like they matter most.
