The late afternoon sun dipped low on the horizon, casting long shadows in the quiet house. Baby Yuri sat on a soft mat in the corner of the living room, her tiny body trembling as she let out heartbreaking cries. Her round cheeks were streaked with tears, and her small hands clutched at her empty stomach.
Yuri hadn’t eaten since breakfast. Her mom had been busy with chores, rushing between tasks and errands, leaving Yuri to wait longer than usual for her meal. At first, she played with her toys, but as time passed, her hunger grew unbearable.
“Mama! Mama!” Yuri cried, her voice hoarse and filled with desperation. She crawled toward the kitchen, her little legs wobbling as she tried to find her mom. The sight of the empty bowl on the table only made her cries louder.
Hearing Yuri’s wails, Mom hurried into the room. “Oh no, my baby! I’m so sorry!” she said, scooping Yuri into her arms. Yuri clung to her mom’s neck, sobbing into her shoulder, her small body shaking with each cry.
Mom quickly set her down and went to prepare a bottle of warm milk. Yuri watched her intently, her cries softening into pitiful whimpers. When the milk was finally ready, Mom handed her the bottle.
Yuri grabbed it eagerly, drinking hungrily, her sobs fading away with each sip. Her big, teary eyes slowly brightened as she felt the comforting warmth of the milk in her tummy.
Mom gently stroked Yuri’s back, whispering, “I’ll never let you wait so long again, sweetheart.” Yuri nestled into her mom’s arms, the pain of her hunger replaced by the soothing comfort of being cared for.
