Palm-Sized Newborn Makes Milo Jealous

The new arrival was so small, so fragile, and so pure. The newborn baby monkey lay gently in Mom’s arms, its entire body no wider than the size of her palm. The sight was breathtaking—tiny fingers curling weakly, eyes barely opening, and soft fur pressed against Mom’s warmth. Everyone was amazed at how delicate the little one was, but not everyone was happy.

Milo, who had always been Mom’s special baby, watched from nearby with big, confused eyes. He saw how Mom cradled the newborn, whispering to it softly, giving all her care and attention. Something stirred in Milo’s tiny heart—jealousy. He didn’t understand why the little one needed so much of Mom’s time.

At first, Milo came closer, peeking at the newborn. But when Mom smiled down at the tiny sibling, Milo’s face changed. He let out a small cry, tugging at Mom’s arm, demanding that she look at him instead. When she didn’t right away, his cries grew sharper. Milo stomped his feet, shaking his little head as if to say, “What about me, Mom? Don’t forget me!”

The newborn, still too weak to understand, just whimpered softly in Mom’s hand-sized grip. Mom’s heart ached, realizing Milo felt pushed aside. She reached out quickly, pulling Milo into her lap so he could rest near his sibling. With both babies pressed against her, Milo finally calmed a little, though his eyes still showed his longing for her attention.

In that tender moment, Mom held her two little ones close—the tiny palm-sized newborn and the jealous Milo. Her heart was big enough for both, and slowly Milo began to understand that he hadn’t lost her love, he had simply gained a sibling.
