Dody’s First Morning

The sun had barely risen when the new home echoed with sharp cries. Tiny Dody, a newborn baby monkey, was in his mother’s arms—but nothing seemed to comfort him. His little chest heaved, and his voice rang out loudly, sharper than anyone expected from such a fragile body.

It was Dody’s very first morning in his new home. Everything around him was unfamiliar—the smells, the sounds, the soft rustle of leaves outside. He didn’t yet understand that he was safe, that he had a mother now who would never let him go. His cries were filled with fear, confusion, and longing.

His mom held him tighter against her chest, rocking him gently. “Shh, my baby,” her touch seemed to say, “you are not alone anymore.” But Dody cried even louder, pressing his tiny face into her fur, as though begging, “Don’t leave me, stay close.”

Slowly, her warmth began to work its magic. Though his sobs were sharp and heavy at first, they softened little by little as her steady heartbeat reached him. She stroked his back, kissed his tiny head, and hummed quietly, letting him know he was truly loved.

By the time the morning sun filled the room with light, Dody’s cries had faded into soft whimpers. Exhausted from his big emotions, he finally drifted into sleep in his mother’s embrace. His tiny hand stayed curled tightly around her fur, as if making sure she wouldn’t disappear.

That first morning was not easy, but it was the beginning of trust. Dody had cried as loudly as his little lungs could manage, but his mom had stayed, proving she was his forever. From that moment on, he would learn—no matter how loudly he cried, love would always answer
